Methods conform to ASTM E-165, Standard Methods for Liquid Penetrant Inspection, includes Type I and Type II methods A, B & C.
Personnel performing Liquid Penetrant Examination to this procedure shall be qualified and certified in accordance with AFCO NDE Q&C-NDE-01 written practice for qualification, certification, and training of non-destructive examination.
Level II or Level III personnel shall conduct final acceptance examination.
Liquid penetrant examination is a method of nondestructive examination that provides for the detection of discontinuities that are open to the surface of nonporous metals and other materials. Typical discontinuities detectable by this method of examination are cracks, laminations, seams, laps, cold shuts, and porosity.
